The third Australian Rules Football National Championships were the second attended by the Roos. Eight Americans and twelve ex-pat Aussies took the red eye express from San Francisco Thursday night, arriving in the Greater Kentucky Airport in the early hours of Friday morning.

It's not what we wanted to happen but if you didn't already know, we went down in a nail biting finish in the CAFL Grand Final on Saturday by a minuscule 2 points.

It could have went either way, but it went theirs.

The last regular game of the season welcomed LA to their first game in Santa Cruz for 99. Out of the finals it was great to see LA make the trip to Santa Cruz - and then put up a great showing, their last for season 1999.

Another away game saw the Roos struggle for numbers again. But thanks to the dedicated few and Eric's mate Adam, who hadn't played a game of Aussie Rules before, made up the minimum 12 players. With half being US players.

Santa Cruz Roos suffered their first loss of the season to the Lions Saturday afternoon just missing out on breaking the record for consecutive wins in the CAFL, eight.

San Diego burst of the blocks and into a strong breeze put 5 goals in the first quarter to a solitary 1 point from the home team.

The second running of the ANZAC Cup in Santa Cruz, California, was a huge success. We welcomed fellow CAFL club Orange County Bombers, with Denver Bulldogs and Seattle Jets making their first trip out of their home states to put on a great display of footy.

Sunday the 7th of March saw the '2 and 0' Santa Cruz Roos face up to a new challenger in the Orange County Bombers, for their first home game of the 99 season. The Bombers were yet to lose a game also, meaning that after this clash their would only be one team left in the CAFL undefeated.
