September 11, 2003 - Draft Day GGAFL Grand Final 2003

The selectors for Marin and San Francisco met Thursday night to fill in their lineups for the Grand Final. San Francisco captains Mike Jobling and Troy Anthony were looking for a running midfield to take on Point Break. Injured Marin captain Nick Holsman went into the evening looking for forward-line targets.
September 7, 2003 - Down and Dirty With Glen Gooding (Goof)
Sunday morning's Down and Dirty this week featured Roger Bellamy's post-match interview with Glen "Goof" Gooding, Marin's reluctant skipper, which followed the Mavs 13-point victory over Oakland.
Roger the K.R.A.P. interviewer: Afternoon Goof, well played today. Tough game out there for the Mavs, but you seem to come out of it OK.
September 6, 2003 - Marin Remain Undefeated...At A Cost
Marin completed their season undefeated on Saturday, firming as favourites for the GGAFL Premiership by seeing off a gallant Oakland. But in so doing, they lost both co-captains to injury; Holsman's season is over with a broken arm, and Noden sat out the second half with what's described as a thigh injury.
Marin started the game full of running.

August 23, 2003 - Hornets too late.
San Jose highlighted the eveness of the GGAFL competion and belied their ladder position with a well deserved win over San Francisco this weekend. Ironmonger and Gooding were in fine form in front of goals for San Jose, kicking 6 and 3 respectively, while De Marco kicked 4 goals for the Knights from the mid-field.

...is not how anybody would describe the latest round of the GGAFL season 2003.
If round 5 was described as a fiery game, round 6 cannot be called anything less than a full scale military mobilization. As the pregame favorites Oakland led from the start, but could not shake a gutsy San Francisco team.

In a fiery game in the furnace-like confines of The Quarry, Marin overcame a gallant San Jose to ensure a spot in the GGAFL Final for the second year running. With temperatures soaring over the 100 F mark tempers flared on the ground with several behind-play incidents likely to come under video scrutiny later in the week.

Warm sunshine and a top of the table clash had a big crowd turn out at the newly-named Durrell Field in Palo Alto. As part of major renovations taking place at all GGAFL grounds, a new mobile scoreboard was also unveiled.
Leigh Barnes, GGAFL President, was typically ecstatic during his luncheon address. "Isn't it a wonderful thing.
June 14, 2003 - Lockout in Concord.
Anticipation was high for the clash of cross-bay rivals San Francisco and Oakland. A big crowd began arriving early, eventuating in the gates being locked well before the first bounce. Spectators arriving late were forced to take any vantage available; climbing trees, or peering through the gaps in the fence.

March 27, 2003 - GGAFL Announces Rosters for 2003
Season two of the Golden Gate Australian Football League may come down to a battle of size and experience against speed and youth. The league heads into it's summer season with the same four teams as competed last year and some familiar faces will be appearing for their clubs.

Following on from a very successful 2002 season, our first as the GGAFL, it is now time to prepare ourselves for the upcoming year of football. Last year, having decided to go it alone with our new league, much was achieved in a relatively short period of time.
