Matt Bishop
Golden Gate Roos 2010 Coaching Appointment
May 10, 2010
By Luke Quirk
It is with great pleasure the Coaching Committee and President of the Golden Gate Roos announces
Matt Bishop as the head coach for the Roos. Matt has came to us with a solid coaching background and an obvious commitment to his football. He has demonstrated his football knowledge, his excellent character and his great enthusiasm to the the GGAFL, particularly the fledgling Sacramento program.
New procedures to appoint a Head Coach were approved by the board at the Annual General Meeting. A coaching committee was formed with representatives from each side to outline the requirements of the GGAFL Head Coach, review applications, interview applicants and finally make a recommendation to league President Leigh Barnes. The process has undoubtedly been slightly protracted and for this we apologize to all the applicants for the delay.
Within the recommendations presented by the committee were suggestions (but not orders) about whom should be considered in other coaching roles within the league. It was felt these decisions should be made in conjunction with the head coach once appointed.
The Coaching Committee would like thank and recognize outgoing Head Coach
Troy Anthony for his successes and contributions these last few years.
Go the Roos in 2010!
