Oakland move to top of ladder

June 29, 2010 By GGAFL Reporter Scoresheet
The Oakland Pirates beat the Marin Mavericks by a large margin on Saturday and moved to the top of the ladder.

In a somewhat one sided game where Oakland looked disciplined and used the ball well, the margin was large enough to gain the percentage needed to step to the top of the GGAFL 2010 ladder. On the other hand Marin looked tired and mishandled the ball more than usual which provided Oakland even more opportunities.

Mark Beare, Saleh Tyebjee and Robert Kennedy played well for Oakland while Michael Lancaster, Joe Brugaletta and Andrew Lamont worked hard for Marin.

In the other weekend match San Jose eventually outlasted San Francisco to almost seal a spot in the finals. In a tight and entertaining game both teams gave all they had but San Francisco could not keep the lead at the end ofter starting the last quarter 1 point ahead..

John Bekiarus and Noam Scott had a lot of the ball for Knights while Chris O'Meara played very well for the Hornets.
