The game was played under low light with a worn brown ball in temperate weather perfect for a game of footy. Golden Gate had 16 players + 3 guest Subs and San Diego brought 32 players to the field. USA Freedom team wins first game at International Cup

The match was held at Bruce Purser Reserve in Kellyville, which if it could be any further from Sydney would be in Brisbane. Conditions were not as good as the day before, there had been light drizzle all morning and the ground was slippery. The rain built through the game making ball-handling difficult; good old wet weather football.

International Cup Update. USA Revolution 3 - 0
August 16, 2011 By Troy AnthonyThe USA Aussie Rules team stand at 3 wins and no losses at the international Cup in Australia.
In the next game the USA Revolution are playing South Africa in a curtain raiser to the Swans v Saint Kilda game at ANZ stadium this Sunday. This is huge for the US - from both a contest and a development point of view. The stakes are high in this game, and the intensity so far has been strong. Looking forward to watching this.

Marin, the victors in 2011

Marin continued their dominance in the first ten years of the GGAFL by winning their fifth Grand Final.
The Grand Final MVP was awareded to Chris Kitchen (Marin).
Other awards presented at the end of season function saw Chris O'Meara (San Jose) rewarded for his outstanding season winning the season MVP trophy and Chris Johnson (Oakland) collecting the Goal Kickers award.
GGAFL Appreciation Awards were presented to Duncan Lamont, Dallas Bradley and Chris McLean for their dedicated and selfless contributions to the league.

March 3, 2002 By Leigh BarnesG'day one and all, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the brand new Golden Gate Australian Football League (GGAFL) and the 2002 season. A lot has happened since the conclusion of the season last year, so let me take a minute to apprise you of all of the changes.
The CAFL has decided to go into hiatus for a year, allowing each region to develop their own metro league, which we have called the GGAFL. More..▸

When a small group of Bay Area footy followers transformed the Santa Cruz
'Roos into the Golden Gate Australian Football League in early 2002, they
had high hopes for the new league. The GGAFL enters 2012
with a solid player base, consistent performances at a national level, four
solid clubs, and continued enthusiasm for the future.But what keeps us going each year is new blood. If you're reading this, you already have an interest in Aussie Rules Football in the Bay Area. Why not follow through with a note to the league and let us know who you are, or join us . We welcome players of all levels. Some of our best players today are locals who kicked a footy for the first time just a few years ago. Several transplanted Aussies are already part of the league as well. So if you're here from down under or here from birth, come have a run with us.
If you don't want to play but are interested in helping to run our league or coming to watch games we would also like to hear from you. Whoever you are, we hope to see you at the footy.
