By GGAFL Reporter

The GGAFL help their Annual General Meeting at GGAFL Headquarters on December 5th 2009.

Highlights and Outcomes.

Fiscal Matters

The GGAFL had another successful fiscal year, producing a small positive cash flow and once again starts the year free from debt with enough cash to kick the season off.

Membership

Each club managed the membership process relatively well. San Francisco had the most signed up Playing Members with 26 while San Jose achieved 16. Oakland had the most Signed Up Supports with 23 while San Jose had 9.

Total Registered Players for 2009 was 87 and Total Registered Supporters was 60. President Barnes stated "This was a good year, but we can do better.".

2010 Membership

2010 will have a fund-raising competition. The winning club will be awarded a prize. For there to be a winner ALL clubs must meet the minimum $2000.

Inter - league Games

The GGAFL will maintain it's commitment to games against Orange County and San Diego for 2010. At this time there was consensus on this schedule providing valuable games outside the GGAFL but not imposing an onerous travel schedule on the GGAFL players.

The GGAFL will research the possibility of a third inter league game in the Bay Area for 2010.

Expansion Teams

After much discussion it was decided that the GGAFL should introduce a 5th team to the competition in 2011.

It was also proposed and agreed that one game for 2010 should be played in Monterrey and one game in Sacramento.

Elected Board Positions

President: Leigh Barnes

Vice-President: Troy Anthony

Vice-President: Rod Bell

Treasurer: Luke Quirk

Player Manager: Michael Jobling

Webmaster: John Ironmonger

Exec: Michael Lancaster, Tony Farrugia, Davide DeVellis

To continue the process of localization of the GGAFL a goal was set of at least two Americans on the Board in 2011.

Other Notes

President Barnes re-iterated - "2009 was the most successful year off-field that the GGAFL has had. On-field San Jose struggled, but Marin were rejuvenated in no small part due to the recruiting drive of Michael Lancaster. The Nationals saw a 2:1 win - loss ratio again - need to look for improvement."
